Get out your green T-Shirts! It's time for another RALLY!
This Sunday, February 14 (Valentine's Day!) from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. we're going to show the love for public employees by having a huge rally on the west side of the Roundhouse (same place as our last rally) to make sure legislators know how important the services we provide are to the citizens of New Mexico.
Our message is simple: we've already had $700 million in cuts, and state and university employees have already taken hits of about 2 weeks worth of pay. Meanwhile, millionaires who got a 40% tax cut aren't being asked to contribute an extra dime to solve our budget problems, and out-of-state corporations who dodge the taxes they owe New Mexico are still getting away with it. NO MORE CUTS for public employees--raise revenue!
If you can't make it to Santa Fe, continue to flood the key 12 senators from the last update with calls and emails asking them to vote NO on House Bill 2, and make sure to include in your message or email that public employees have already taken too much of a cut and it's time to look for revenues. "No more cuts" should be part of every message. Here are those 12 swing vote senators again.
Ask these 12 senators to stand up for public services by voting NO to any additional cuts to public employees by voting NO on House Bill 2.
